Yes. At IHS, every client completes a comprehensive three-step assessment process before beginning treatment. This ensures we understand your needs fully and can develop an effective treatment plan. The process includes:
- Diagnostic Evaluation (1 hour):
You will meet with Dr. Davis to discuss your reasons for seeking treatment, review relevant personal and clinical history, and define your treatment goals. - Brain Functioning Assessment (up to 3.0 hours):
This session includes a combination of assessments determined by Dr. Davis following your evaluation. It may include:
- A qEEG, which compares your brain’s electrical activity to a large, age-matched database
- A LENS (Low Energy Neurofeedback System) recording to analyze your brainwave responsiveness
- Computerized neurocognitive testing to measure memory, attention, processing speed, and other cognitive functions
The exact duration depends on which assessments are needed based upon your evaluation.
- Treatment Planning Meeting (1 hour):
Scheduled at least one week after the brain functioning assessment, this meeting brings all of the information together. We will review the assessment results, consider your goals, and create a personalized neurotherapy plan tailored to your specific brain patterns and symptoms.

qEEG-guided neurotherapy requires advanced training, clinical experience, and specialized equipment. Not all providers are trained to perform or interpret qEEGs. While some offer neurofeedback without a brain map, we have found that qEEG-guided treatment leads to more precise targeting and better results, especially for complex or deep-brain issues.
Yes. Research over several decades has shown that neurotherapy can produce long-term improvements. For example, it has been found to be a safe and effective treatment for ADHD, with results often comparable to stimulant medication. The number of sessions needed varies depending on the condition being treated and its severity. Most clients complete approximately 40 sessions. We ask new clients to commit to at least 20 sessions, as this is typically when noticeable changes begin to occur.
Each session lasts about 50 to 60 minutes. We recommend scheduling sessions twice per week when possible, as this often leads to faster results. However, weekly sessions can still be effective. Our team will help you build a schedule that fits your goals and availability.
